PREP APPLICATION


* Please Note: PREP applicants must complete an application first to the Case PREP. The PREP Administrator will then work with the applicant to file the appropriate forms with the Case Western Reserve University Human Resources Department.

Eligibility
The Case PREP accepts students from groups that are underrepresented in the biomedical sciences or whose backgrounds indicate an educational disparity. Nationally, individuals who are considered an underrepresented minority include, but are not limited to, US citizens who are African Americans, Hispanic Americans, Native Americans, and Natives of the US Pacific Islands. Additionally, applicants to the Case PREP must meet the following requirements:
  • US citizenship or permanent resident
  • Graduated with a baccalaureate degree (BA or BS) in a biomedically relevant science from an accredited US college or university less than 36 months prior to the date of submission of the application
  • Commitment to pursuing a PhD in the biomedical sciences
PREP Scholars must intend to apply within two years to a graduate program that will lead to the research doctorate (PhD or equivalent).

Applicant Profile
The successful PREP applicant will likely have:
  • Little or no research experience
  • Good but perhaps not excellent grades
  • Potential interest in graduate school
  • A will to succeed
